I think this is the second time I've had turnips and they were delicious! Actually, the entire meal was wonderful. This would be perfect for company or a special family dinner!

Tuesday Dinner: Chicken Tsukune Spring Ramen

My husband's bowl shows the dish best! Plenty of ramen. While in the second bowl, since I'm under the weather I preferred to go light on the ramen. The dish was still very delicious, light and refreshing!

I've been fighting a recent infection, been under the weather and was completely surprised when our son presented me with this beautiful flower bouquet! Thank you Marcus. They certainly do brighten up my day.

Boston Globe: I Don't Feel Your Pain

I'm thrilled to see more studies being done for chronic pain. The study results will give us more pain management options and perhaps, one day, lead to cures. But according to a recent Boston Globe article, some of the findings aren't being widely discussed.

"But as pain rises on the agenda for clinicians and patients, research is uncovering some unsettling facts about how it really affects people. First, not everyone experiences pain similarly. In experiments, women and black people have frequently shown lower pain tolerance when asked to do things like hold their hands in ice water. Gender differences in pain prevalence and intensity emerge in adolescence, and for reasons not fully understood, women are particularly vulnerable to conditions including migraines, back pain, and Fibromyalgia. Low-income Americans, too, are more likely to suffer pain than their high-income peers: They are likelier to be engaged in manual labor, to eat poorly, and to go to the doctor less oft…

Menu Plan Monday ~ June 16, 2014

I hope all the amazing dads had a wonderful Father's Day this weekend! In our house, we celebrated all weekend, starting with renting a car, heading to Red Rock Casino and Hotel for a coffee, and surprising him with a new watch!

But you can't always plan every moment because I woke up with terrible pain on Saturday. It seems my Hidradenitis Suppurativa decided to act up! So, hubby took me to Urgent Care, where I received an antibiotic injection and a prescription.

Since I'm on bedrest, our son and my husband spent the weekend, taking scenic drives and hanging out. Now that I think about it, that's a great Father's Day weekend!

Las Vegas Hearts Are Heavy

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Officer Alyn Beck's funeral was this weekend. And as a local, I don't think one could go throughout their day thinking of the family and loved ones. Flags are being flown half staff for almost a week, in remembrance of the 2 officers and the bystander.

It's truly a reminder of how dangerous our world is, as well as how we must never take for granted, the people in our lives.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Alyn Beck, his family and loved ones today.

May he rest in peace. And my his family and loved ones feel the supportive arms of the Heavenly Father and the community around them. Amen.
