Kelly's Korner: Show Us Your Life~ Holiday Recipes

I have to say that I don't have an assortment of hoiday recipes that I prepare every year. They tend to change depending on our interests, cooking trends, etc.

This holiday season, I'm going to be baking some egg nog cookies, courtesy of Mostly Homemade Mom, for the neighbors. I made them last year and they were a huge hit!

St. Jude to test chronic pain control without the tingling

article by: JAMES WALSH , Star Tribune, December 4, 2013

For people with chronic pain, the growth of neurostimulation — use of an electric current to block pain messages from reaching the brain — has been a welcome relief. But the technology loses its effectiveness over time and comes with a pesky tingling sensation.

St. Jude Medical Inc. is hoping to end those problems with its Prodigy neurostimulator. The Little Canada-based company said Tuesday it is beginning to enroll U.S. patients in a clinical study of its new spinal cord stimulation system, which delivers what it calls burst stimulation. Burst stimulation delivers closely spaced pulses of electrical energy to a patient’s spinal cord, followed by stretches of quiet — no pulses at all.

The technology “represents an important advancement in neurostimulation therapy,” said Dr. Mark D. Carlson, chief medical officer and vice president of global clinical affairs for St. Jude. “We are excited to be leading the effort ... to bring t…

Hubby's Christmas Gift Has Arrived!

I took the plunge and purchased a Samsung Smart 40 inch TV, as a Christmas gift for my husband. It was delivered today via UPS. One of our neighbors was kind enough to set it up for me, in exchange for a piece of cake! My husband is going to be so surprised when he gets home from work!

The Sound of Music LIVE, NBC, Tonight! 7PM CST/8PM EST

THE SOUND OF MUSIC, is based on the original Broadway musical, starring Carrie Underwood and Stephen Moyer, as Maria and Captain von Trapp, will be broadcast LIVE tonight! 7:00pm CST (8:00 pm EST)

This is the story of Maria, who falls in love with Captain von Trapp and his seven children. It's set against the backdrop of Nazi-occupied Austria. Many of the songs, are familiar to generations, such as "The Sound of Music","My Favorite Things," "Do-Re-Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen," "Climb Every Mountain" and "Edelweiss."

I remember singing these songs in music class and seeing the movie, as a young girl. I'm really excited to see this new version!

This new version of "The Sound of Music" will be a faithful adaptation of the original stage musical, to retell the story for a whole new generation. And more than that, it will be broadcast LIVE, adding a whole new level of immediacy and excitement. Get ready to …

Wednesday Dinner: Potato Leek Soup

It's only 45 degrees, in Vegas, today. Which means there's also a hard freeze warning too. Perfect weather for soup, don't you think?

So, I decided to make potato leek soup, on the stove. Hubby is going to need a hot bowl when he gets home from work. It's going to be in the 20's tonight. Brr...thanks to Food Network for this recipe!

Menu Plan Monday ~ December 2, 2013

My husband and I watched "Argo" over the weekend. We both felt it was good but not great. It also bothered us that the writers decided elaborate about the truth regarding New Zealand and Britain. Hopefully, people will do their research regarding the Canadian Caper, before or after the movie.

Are you a The Good Wife fan? If so, I won't be providing any spoilers. I just wanted to say that the writers are truly delivering an amazing season, so far!

2. What is your favorite smell?
I love the smell of vanilla. It's so comforting, cozy and warm. When I have a vanilla scented candle lit my husband and son will look around and ask if there is some baking going on!
