Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market~ "It's Been Too Long"!

Since my Friday schedule was extremely busy, I took a side trip to our local Fresh & Easy, and picked up some premade meals for lunch and dinner. The cool thing about Fresh & Easy is they leave out the preservatives and additives in their ready made meals. Which makes me feel good about serving them to my family.

And since I was there, I picked up some organic fruits and vegetables, a dessert, bottle of wine and bouquet of flowers.

After all the salads and sandwiches we've been eating, the Slow Cooker Beef and Vegetable will make a nice change for Saturday lunch.

PS: Friday evening~ My husband and son commented about the wonderful aromas when they got home from work. They were bummed when I told them that they had to wait till Saturday for a bite.

Five Question Friday ~ July 26, 2013

Thanks My Little Life for hosting Five Question Friday!

1. What is your best secret cleaning tip?

Baking soda! I use it to clean the dried food stains, grease and dirty kitchen floors. It's wonderful as a scouring powder in the bath tub and tile. You can also add 1/2 cup to your wash, as a stain remover and deodorizer.

2. What is your favorite food to snack on during movie night?

Popcorn! My husband usually pops a bowl of Orville Redenbacher popcorn, on the stove, before we watch a movie or TV show together. He never burns it, seasons it just right with salt and melted margarine. Yum.

3. If it was up to you, what would you have named the royal baby?

I actually like the name Joseph. It's my father-in-law, husband and son's middle name.

4. If you could be any Disney character who would you choose?

I've always like Daisy Duck. She and Daffy have been together for many years. And she has the cutest shoes.

5. What's the most important part of a healthy relationship?

Don't berate your spouse or partner...ever! It's just wrong.

Chronic Pain Sufferer: Humidity, Please Go Away!

I recently read, somewhere's online, that there have been studies showing no relation to increase pain and the weather. Well, as a long time chronic pain sufferer, I have to disagree. When humidity finds it's way to Las Vegas, this gal feels like she's carrying around a few extra pounds.

Picture this: I'm carrying a full backpack, trying to tread through water~ all day long.

It's exhausting! And during these days, I'm forced to lie down more, trying to get some type of relief from the additional pain.

Today, according to The Weather Channel app, it's 13% humidity. WooHoo! I can finally see some relief in sight coming soon!

Healthy Cereal Has Lots of Sugar ~ HuffPostLive

Some of the bowls of 'healthy' brand cereal had more than 30 grams of sugar in them! Ugh!

I guess we need to be paying more attention to the nutrition labels on our healthy breakfast cereal boxes. Or better yet, lets enjoy a bowl of oatmeal or Cream of Wheat.

RTX: New Drug Could Replace Morphine, End Chronic Pain by Jefferson Adams

Could a toxin from a cactus-like plant not only replace morphine, but potentially end chronic pain treatment as we know it? A group of researchers think so.

The researchers say that a single injection of a drug called resiniferatoxin. made from a toxin found in a Moroccan cactus-like plant, can deliver highly selective, permanent, local pain relief. They say the drug may soon replace morphine, and change the face of pain treatment, and chronic pain itself in the coming years.

Modern medicine is pretty good at treating simple kinds of pain, such as pain from basic headaches, pulled muscles and from the repair of decayed teeth.
But another type of pain, inflammatory pain—the kind that comes from osteoarthritis, bone cancer and spinal and back injuries—has proven far more difficult to treat.

HuffPostLive: Fathers With Absent Fathers

Fathers are fast disappearing from American homes and one in three children, or approximately 15 million live without one according to the U.S. Census. The problem is especially pronounced in black families, where the figure increases to over half or around five million children.

When I read this I just wanted to cry. "What's going on"?

Here's what I wrote on June 16, 2013, titled, "Fathers Take Care of Your Daughters and Sons"

In our society, I feel that we underestimate the importance of a good father in our children's lives. When I hear our son's friends comment how lucky Marcus is for having a dad, my heart does break. These are grown men that still feel a hole that hasn't been filled. I can't count the times when my husband has gone to sports events to cheer on other people's sons, listened to them when they needed someone to or given advice when asked. Many even refer to him as Dad.
